DO I NEED A SPRAY BOOTH?

Q. I own an Iron Works shop. I make window bars, gates, hand rails, etc. Recently, the insurance company visited my shop and told me that I need a spray booth. Is this true? I use primer and paint that has a reading according to the Bay Area Quality Management District in San Francisco. I currently use heavy duty fans that blow out the fumes.

A. Yes, you do need a spray booth and you also need to get permits to operate the spray booth. If you install and operate a spray booth without a permit, you can be fined $10,000 per day.
