| | STATUS OF OXSOL 100®, (PCBTF) Q: What is the status, present and future, of Oxsol 100® (PCBTF)? A: Parachlorobenzotrifluoride (PCBTF) is an exempt solvent and can be used in paint formulations without being counted as a VOC. The OxyChem company was one of the few (if not the only one) that first introduced PCBTF to the paint industry, but recently they closed their PCBTF plant. The solvent is still available by other solvent suppliers and importers, such as Kowa American Corp. (800) 221-2076. You can get details of p-Chlorobenzotrifluoride (PCBTF) at www.kowa.com/chemical/oxso.htm . Other companies also sell or import the solvent, but I could not find them when I searched the Internet.
