TOUCH UP PAINT FOR COOKING POTS Q. I bought some of a high temperature touch-up enamel paint on the advice of my local TrueValue store. My wife is afraid to use it on the intended cooking pots which have a porcelainized steel finish that is rusted in places. This is Nu-Porce#12001 enamel touch-up paint. The company is located in Oceanside, NY, but I haven't been able to locate an MSDS. Can you reassure me that the intended application is safe? A. Since you haven't provided the name of the paint company, I also can't look up their MSDS. If you are doing touch-up on the inside of the pots I most certainly can't give you any assurances concerning the paint's toxicity. If you intend to use the touch up paint on the outside of the pots, you are less likely to suffer any health consequences. Your best bet is to get a copy of the MSDS and see what the constituents are.
