Q: Who should take the Online Stack Sampling Methods 1-5 Training Program? A: This course is intended for government officials and contractors with basic knowledge of general chemistry concepts who take part in the regulation of particulate emissions from stationary sources and for those in industry who are responsible for determining and documenting emission rates from their plants.
PROGRAM / COURSE DESCRIPTION The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates the emissions of particles into the air because of the dangerous conditions that these particles create, inducing problems such as respiratory illness, acid rain, and climate change. EPA Methods 1-5 outline procedures for determining particulate emissions from stationary sources such as power plants and other industrial facilities so that we can minimize harmful effects on health and the environment. These methods appear in title 40, part 60 of the Code of Federal Regulations (referred to as 40 CFR 60). TOPICS
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES The overall objective of this course is to provide participants with a basic understanding of the concepts, equipment, procedures, and calculations required to obtain particulate emission rates from stationary sources according to EPA Methods 1-5.
