Q&A on powder coatings as primer with CARC topcoats. Can it be used and when can it be used.
Spray Painting of CARC Coatings

Back to Coatings: Liquid & Powder

Q:  Please advise, if possible, the Company and Phone of anyone who is certified to administer the CARC Painting procedure to parts for TACOM, Warren MI. I am about to offer a quote on a small quantity of parts for TACOM that require CARC Painting. I am in Southern California so a qualified Company in this area would be a benefit.

A:  To the best of my knowledge no pre-qualification or certification is necessary.  You simply need to find a custom coater or job shop in your local area which has the spray equipment necessary to apply the CARC coatings.  In my experience, most of the job shops that apply liquid high solids coatings will be able to do this.  There is nothing very special about CARC coatings that make them different from other high solids coatings.

If you have any further questions, I suggest that you call TACOM and ask them if they need to have a "certified" company apply the coating.  Alternatively, read the specification for this information.
